Qua Spa & Mystere

June 23, 2011 by KChie Leave a Comment

Tuesday morning, my mother woke up feeling unwell. To make matters worse this high class hotel (Aria) didn’t have a complimentary coffee machine inside the room.. I had just the thing for her though. Reservations at 11am for a 50 minute Swedish massage at Caesar Palace Qua Spa.

We got into our gym clothing and walked over. After settling in, we hit their fitness center for about an hour. I stayed on the elliptical but she did both the treadmill and a circuit of weight machines.  We then returned to the Spa, rinsed off and got comfortable for our massages. We were in separate rooms with separate masseurs and both enjoyed our rub down.  But the best part for me were the pools and rooms. First up, enjoying the hot water jacuzzi while drinking pineapple juice. By this time my mother was feeling better.  I headed into the Artic Ice Room which had “snow” falling until I was chilled and then into the Sauna. Then back into the Artic Room and this time into the Herbal Steam Room. Oh my goodness, it was so hot in there but so wonderful going back and forth from cold to hot. I decided spontaneously to steam condition my hair and went into the showers to apply ample conditioner into my hair (being worn in large twists) and rinsed it out after a decidedly long time in the steam room. Afterwards I went into the Roman Baths area for another hot pool experience before finishing off in the cold pool. That really relaxed me. My mother continued to enjoy the pools while I lounged on the heated chairs.  Once we were both good, we went into the showers for a washup then prettied ourselves up with their supplies.

By the time we left, we had spent almost six hours there! We walked over to the Spice Market Buffet for a late lunch which turned out to be dinner instead. I’m not sure that the lunch and dinner offerings are different but the prices certainly are so I had no complaints paying for lunch when dinner was to start in 20 minutes.

We returned to Aria with little time to spare. Got changed, and headed back out to Treasure Island for the 7 pm Cirque du Soleil’s Mystère.  I was particularly wowed by the Hand-to-Hand act but the whole show was pretty good.

Afterwards we strolled back to Aria taking in the volcano at Mirage, the Fountains of Bellagio and the bustle of Las Vegas by night.

THE PURPLE MANGO PANDEMONIUM

A lover of mangoes. A woman - smart, without pretense, lefthanded, Afropolitan - navigating this thing called life. An unapologetic believer in social justice and karma. Choosing to radiate positive energy and be true to myself. Here, my musings.
