David Guetta Live in Concert in DC

January 12, 2019 by KChie Leave a Comment

David Guetta came to DC and I just had to go see him in concert! He played at Echostage. I saw Tiësto there in March 2017. Why is it each time I’ve gone to Echostage it’s freezing cold? Sigh.

Unlike with Tiësto whose work I do respect but don’t necessarily love, I’m a true bonafide fan of David Guetta. David Guetta is known as the “Grandfather of EDM”. Now in his early 50s, he has been mixing music since he was a teenager. Now many other famous musicians collaborate with him. He’s probably the most influential DJ in taking EDM mainstream. I don’t remember when I first heard his tracks but it was probably in the late 1990s/early 2000s when I was heavy into Kwaito. I’m pretty sure Bob Sinclar was that stepping stone. Love him.

Anyway, back to David Guetta. David Guetta came to DC on Dec 30th and I couldn’t refuse myself a concert to end 2018. He came on stage well after midnight and it was spectacular. I was front and center enjoying myself, dancing, gyrating, loosing myself, releasing 2018 into history and beginning the welcoming process of 2019.

In true KChie fashion however, that meant I began 2019 with a wicked cold just like I did after enjoying Stromae in concert a few years ago. Sigh. But it was worth it.
