This is News!

February 26, 2011 by KChie Leave a Comment

I’ve had quite a busy week at work and was feeling out of sync with the world.  So I decided to catch up with the news. Unfortunately, most of the “news stories” put me into a “what the hell?” attitude.

I started out perusing AP Mobile on my phone where the self-proclaimed King of Kings Gadhafi had me in stitches by blaming Al-Qaeda for exploiting young Libyans giving them “hallucinogenic pills in their coffee with milk, like Nescafe” (MSNBC link) and that’s why they were revolting. No Gadhafi, your time is up, they really want you gone!  I’m upset though that his insanity has already led to thousands dead. This isn’t going to be easy.

I then found my way to CNN online only to find out that Gadhafi now says  he will die a “martyr”? The man is delushional.

But my news experience got even worse as I left Gadhafi behind and followed link after link on CNN. I guess that was my mistake…getting my news from CNN because all it is is a collection of “headlines” from local TV stations and that is the worst quality of news out there.

So I read about the Disney worker accused of raping a park visitor and I’m thinking how awful when I realize there’s something off about the story. How do you invite a stranger into your hotel room with you and your young kids? How do you fall asleep with him there? How do you just brush him off the first few times he tries to get to your panties while you are asleep? And how, after the act is all done with does he leave saying “see you tomorrow” and you actually see him the next day and accept the free rides he offers?  Hmmm!

Then there is the parent who is selling him/herself off on Craigslist so as to raise money for his/her child’s student loan debt. Seriously? Why can’t the child take care of their own debt.

Will I ever forget the 96 year old prostitute/sex-escort who still earns about $80,000 a year with regular clients who range in age from 29 (yes 29) to 92?

What about that quality Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies addictive enough to lead to a brawl that results in assault charges?

I decided it’s far better to live in my world of ignorance than deal the headache these headlines caused me.

THE PURPLE MANGO PANDEMONIUM

A lover of mangoes. A woman - smart, without pretense, lefthanded, Afropolitan - navigating this thing called life. An unapologetic believer in social justice and karma. Choosing to radiate positive energy and be true to myself. Here, my musings.
